Wellbeing is an equally important part of student life at Sacred Heart. The school has many wellbeing aspects in its curriculum. The pastoral care offered to each child is what Sacred Heart prides itself on. We focus on ensure that every child is happy, has friends and has work provided to them that is achievable. These 3 ingredients make happier children. Wellbeing is included in the classes in the following ways;
Teachers run lessons from the Respectful Relationships Program. which aims at building emotional literacy, understanding others emotions, building respect and resilience (being about to bounce back from low points). These lessons are taught once per week and referred to in other subjects.
The school focuses on and celebrates proactive mental health days including;
Bullying, No Way! National Day of Action - March
Harmony Week - March
NAIDOC Week - July
R U OK Day - September
Day for Daniel - October
School Counsellor
The school has been fortunate to be able to access the services of a Chaplain from Centacare one day per week. Our Chaplain is available to work with children who need someone to talk to, need a little more TLC or to run programs with them to help their wellbeing. The Chaplain can also provide advice to families about parenting.
